Top Boston Celtics moment No. 3) Tatum’s Game 1 buzzer-beater to shock Nets

Jayson Tatum’s buzzer-beater to beat the Brooklyn Nets in Game 1 was memorable for a couple of reasons. It was a great way to kick off the C’s magical playoff run but it was even sweeter to happen amidst the Kyrie Irving drama.

Kyrie has been public enemy number one for Boston fans ever since he left Beantown to team up with Kevin Durant in Brooklyn. There is never any shortage of boos or insults thrown his way as a result of his decision.

Kyrie fully leaned into this and played the role of the villain in Game 1, jawing back at every bit of noise from the crowd and dominating the game on the court.

He was having an all-time playoff performance and was determined to shut the raucous crowd up for good. The star guard scored his 39th point of the game with a 3-pointer to put the Nets up by three with 45 seconds remaining and it seemed like he was going to have his way.

Then, the Celtics had other plans.

They scored a quick layup to cut the lead down to one and forced the Nets into a tough heave on the other end. With just 10 seconds left, the Boston Celtics had one last chance to win the game.

A hectic final possession came to a close when Marcus Smart found Tatum on the cut to score the game-winning layup on none other than Kyrie Irving to seal Game 1 for Boston.

One word: EPIC!
