Boston Celtics target No. 2) Patty Mills

After watching this year’s NBA Finals matchup, it’s quite evident that the Boston Celtics should strongly consider adding on some extra players who can go out there a buy themselves a bucket.

Far too often in this series, we found the offensive flow becoming stagnant when their two main focal points in Jayson Tatum, who was being double-teamed for a large chunk of crunch time, and Jaylen Brown, who could not buy a shot for long stretches of time, couldn’t find their rhythms.

With this, one offensive-minded player who was heavily linked to the C’s just a year ago is heading towards an offseason where he holds a player option with the Brooklyn Nets and, should he opt-out–which isn’t as ridiculous as it once may have sounded considering how much of a headache the organization itself has become–, we at HH believe that Boston should be very interested in a pursuit.

Patty Mills, who reportedly has strong connections with Ime Udoka after their time spent in San Antonio (where both earned championship rings back in 2014), has managed to establish himself as a trusty shot taker and maker throughout his 13-year career.

Just this past season, in fact, the point guard found himself boasting impressive per-game averages of 11.4 points on 40 percent shooting from deep.

Now, granted, the addition of the 33-year-old could, in theory, infringe upon the backup minutes that both Derrick White and Payton Pritchard found throughout this past season, but neither are the types of trusted “go get em” commodities when it comes to a team searching for a bucket (Pritchard should be, but, sadly, it appears the coaching staff doesn’t want to let him loose) that Boston was seriously lacking in the NBA Finals.

Mills, on the other hand, is quite proficient in this area, and this, coupled with his ties to Boston’s head man could help the team moving forward both from a production standpoint as well as when it comes to keeping the kind of mentality that Udoka managed to establish this season alive.
