The Boston Celtics find themselves up 1-0 against the dynastic Golden State Warriors in this year’s NBA Finals and, in turn, are just three wins away from attaining their 18th title in franchise history.

However, despite the fact that they’re currently in the driver’s seat on the road to glory, this hasn’t stopped media outlets from discussing ways in which they could try and bolster the team’s roster for years to come during the upcoming offseason.

Just recently, in fact, the folks at NBA Analysis Network concocted a scheme that would formulate a new Big-3 in the Eastern Conference by sending Detroit Pistons forward, Jerami Grant, to Boston.

The exact package proposed reads as follows:

Citing the fact that the Boston Celtics could use for a boost in talent come next season even if they do wind up winning the chip this year, coupled with their struggles as of late to bolster their wing depth–they’ve gone on to use two consecutive lottery selections in 2019 and 2020 in an effort to address the position, albeit to no avail–, writer Grant Afseth believes that this deal with Detroit could ultimately wind up benefiting the shamrocks greatly:

"Even if the Celtics were to go on to defeat the Warriors in the NBA Finals, there is always room for a team to improve to continue to succeed. Golden State understands this better than any team after adding Kevin Durant to a 73-win team. The Celtics would be adding a versatile big wing that can do legitimately everything a team needs in terms of dirty work on both ends of the floor. He showed this during his time with the Denver Nuggets as a complementary talent. With the Detroit Pistons, Grant has displayed an intriguing ability to put the ball on the floor and use his size to score. It’s clear that he’s not a leading scorer talent and his hold on the Pistons’ offense will continue to lessen as they add more talent around Cade Cunningham.Perhaps the next evolution of Grant’s career could be to rejoin a contender like the Celtics as the Pistons look to build long-term and gather assets. Alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Tatum, they’d have a three-headed wing monster to overwhelm opponents."

Now, by no means is this the first time that we’ve seen the concept of a Jerami Grant to the Boston Celtics trade being proposed. And, while we at HH typically are not for these proposals becoming realities, such a deal like this may be a bit too hard for Brad Stevens and co. to pass up.

Sure, both Derrick White and Payton Pritchard have played major roles in the C’s postseason run (especially White) and, as a result, have etched themselves into the hearts of each and every member of the team’s fanbase, but it would be foolish to suggest that either one of these two have the upside that someone like Grant possesses.

Proving to be a solid two-way talent who, to the vast majority of media pundits and spectators alike, is on the cusp of stardom, since joining the Pistons back in 2020 the forward has found himself putting up stellar averages of 20.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.1 blocks on 43 percent shooting from the floor and 35 percent shooting from deep.

Adding such a talent to have running alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown could certainly be viewed as a great move for this front office to make, as the franchise has been searching for that highly coveted tertiary option for years now and the 28-year-old could prove to be exactly that for this team, both in the now and whilst moving forward through the years as well.

Though we at HH are by no means thrilled about the idea of seeing these players and draft capital departing, the skill and overall talent that a player like Jerami Grant brings to the table should be enough to make the Boston Celtics accept such a trade if it were to pass by their desk.

What say you C’s fans? Do you like the proposal presented by N.A.N? Do you believe it would be too much for the shamrocks to part with?
