Boston Celtics dud: Grant Williams

Will the real Grant Williams please stand up?!

Seriously, where has the reliable two-way, quasi-big man that Boston Celtics fans have grown to love throughout his three-year tenure and, frankly, during the majority of this postseason gone?

These past few games have truly been horrendous showings for the 23-year-old, but Friday night easily proved to be his worst during this stretch.

As we stated in the intro, the C’s were touchy to a fault on the defensive end during the outing, and Williams was one of the leaders on this front, notching three personal fouls by the end of the first half and wound up finishing with five total at the 9:36 mark in the fourth before being pulled for the overwhelming majority of the period (logged just 2:25 minutes of action during crunch time).

In just over 17 minutes of action, the power forward finished things off with an unbelievably horrid stat line of two points and two rebounds on 0-of-2 shooting from the field and zero attempts from deep.

Over his last three games, Grant Williams has been averaging 4.7 points and 4.3 rebounds on a lackluster 20 percent shooting from deep.

As someone who has become so integral to Boston’s successful run from the second half of the season onward, this type of play is simply unacceptable, and, if he doesn’t step up in Game 7, the C’s will be in for yet another stressful exhibition.
