The Boston Celtics are just one win away from punching their ticket to their first NBA Finals in over a decade but, to us at HH, we feel that, before we get ahead of ourselves and start penciling them in for a round four berth, we must wait until the final buzzer sounds on Friday night’s Game 6.

As we’ve seen throughout the league’s history, anything is possible (shout out to KG!) in the postseason and, despite being up 3-2 in this best-of-seven series, the Miami Heat ended with the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference for a reason.

Adding to this, not only is their opponent still a challenge to square off against, but we also see aspects of the C’s own game that could, in theory, prevent them from advancing altogether.

Again, while we at the Houdini are holding back on any celebrations until things are made official, Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors likes the chances of the shamrocks to advance.

On Thursday night, when asked in a postgame interview which team between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics he would like to see his reigning team square off against in the championship round, the All-Star didn’t mince words:

"“If you’re asking me who I want to play, I’m gonna tell you who I think we’re gonna play… we’re gonna play Boston. That’s who we’re gonna play.”"

Should this matchup ultimately become a reality, the Boston Celtics would be coming in with plenty of plusses on their side, as they clearly have the size advantage in this hypothetical series and, throughout this year’s playoff run, are ahead of the Warriors in both Defensive Rating (second in comparison to sixth) to NET Rating (first in comparison to second).

That said, by no means would this be anything close to an easy matchup for Ime Udoka‘s squad, for Golden State has ample championship experience, offensive fire-power (Dubs rank first in Offensive Rating this postseason), and roster depth on their side.

Before anything, however, the C’s must take care of business against the Heat and, once/ if they nab their fourth win, we can start plotting out how this potential Finals matchup could play out.
