Boston Celtics SG Nik Stauskas

Nik Stauskas has always been a bit of a placeholder on the Cs, with Sam Hauser eventually expected to grow comfortable enough in Maine to take over the 3-point specialist role on the main roster.

That said, he isn’t devoid of value on the open market if a team is in need of a 28-year-old who thrived in his last full-time role in Cleveland. During the 2018-19 season, Stauskas shot the ball at a 43% clip from beyond the arc in 2.6 attempts per game for the Cavaliers.

It took a year in Spain and then a year in the G-League between then and his current Celtics stint, but Stauskas has been a contributor for both Eastern Conference finals teams (Boston Celtics, Miami Heat) in the past six months.

A team could look to take on Stauskas’ non-guaranteed 2022-23 salary in a deal that also nets them cash in exchange for a second-round draft pick if the Cs want to stash a future asset and open up a roster spot for a ring-chaser.

Stauskas has gotten plenty of garbage time during the postseason, particularly the Miami series due to its lopsided nature, so plenty of NBA teams have gotten the chance to see if he could be a cost-efficient second-unit contributor.
