Boston Celtics offseason transaction No. 2: Choosing between Sam Hauser and Nik Stauskas

Can the Boston Celtics realistically fit both Sam Hauser and Nik Stauskas into their rotation? Absolutely. Any team in the NBA should be able to fit in knock-down shooters able to complement stars.

Does that mean the Cs will stick with both Stauskas and Hauser this offseason? It isn’t likely, considering all of the players already under contract and the limited means to improve the roster this offseason.

Free agency, be it hunting for prospects right after the draft or in July when veterans get the chance to get the bag, will be Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens’ primary source of roster improvement this summer. Cutting one of the identical skillset shooters should be the best way to clear overlapping talents and get the most of the entire roster.

If you were to ask the Houdini which player would be the one to sacrifice, it’d be Stauskas. Hauser’s rights will be retained by Boston, and his fewer years of service means less salary to cover for.
