With the Boston Celtics trailing the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference finals following a monster performance from Bam Adebayo in Robert Williams’ absence, it’s possible we are currently staring at the beginning of the end.

For the second time in three years, the Heat are holding Boston’s fate in their hands, and they could end up dropping the Cs like a bad habit once again as they did down in the Lake Buena Vista bubble in 2020.

The T.D. Garden hosts at least one more game, but Boston cannot continue to have dreadful quarters as they’ve had so far. Saturday night’s first quarter was nearly their downfall (being outscored by 21) just as the third quarter (a 25-point deficit) was their series-opening undoing.

The Houdini doesn’t mean to sound like a Debbie-downer, but similar heartbreak has occurred pretty recently. At least this squad looks far closer to having a solid structural roster foundation than any team since the 2018-19 Cs, which had great pieces that weren’t great together.

Should Boston fall short of Banner 18 in 2021-22, here are 3 likely offseason moves we can expect this offseason:

Boston Celtics offseason transaction No. 1: Bringing over Yam Madar from overseas

In the 2020 NBA Draft, the Celtics selected two first-round picks, one of whom (Payton Pritchard) is a postseason contributor this spring. They also stashed Israeli guard Yam Madar, but could bring him stateside this coming offseason.

Given their limited avenues of improvement otherwise, Madar should be able to provide valuable depth in the Boston backcourt after signing a contract this offseason.
