Boston Celtics offseason target No. 1: Kristaps Porzingis

Before there’s any talk of a Kristaps Porzingis trade, the Washington Wizards need to figure out what to do with their franchise star Bradley Beal. Beal is due for a super-max extension, but it may be time to see this partnership dissolve considering the Wizards’ futility in recent seasons.

Washington has escaped the first round of the Eastern Conference postseason just once during his time as head coach of the Wizards, and the end of Beal’s prime is nearing. The 2012 lottery pick should do what NBA stars do: find a new superstar sidekick in a new city.

Should the Wizards clear the Beal hurdle, Porzingis is the next asset Washington should seek assets for. Boston could try its hand trying to pawn off Derrick White, Daniel Theis, Aaron Nesmith, additional salary filler, and draft picks for the Latvian star.

Porzingis, at seven-foot-two, is like Kevin Durant in his ability to get a shot off over any defender. Against Adebayo, that’s a much-needed skill.
