Boston Celtics takeaway No. 3) Ime Udoka can outcoach anyone

Since the explosion of success once the calendar year turned, Ime Udoka has been in the Coach of the Year Award conversations. Although the first-year head man did not win the award, he certainly showed he deserved to be deep into the conversation.

The 2x Coach of the Month award winner showed he is not afraid of the moment. On the biggest stage yet, Udoka stepped up and made the proper adjustments without hesitation.

After trailing at the end of the first, Udoka made adjustments in the game plan and helped his team soar ahead.

The Bucks left Brook Lopez in for an extended time as they looked to protect the paint over the perimeter.

Udoka left Grant Williams in for more minutes as they worked the ball in his direction. Milwaukee continued to allow Boston to shoot from beyond the arc without closing out. This came back to bite the Bucks throughout the night.

Ime Udoka also had to coach around Jayson Tatum’s foul trouble for much of the third quarter. He did so without much difficulty and cruised through without his top star.

The next series against Miami will prove to be another tough test for the former Spurs assistant. Erik Spoelstra is one of the best coaches in the association and he will undoubtedly adjust on the fly.

Expect a coaching chess match for the Eastern Conference Finals.
