Boston Celtics takeaway No.2 ) The defense is still THAT good

Not that there was much doubt, but the defense of the Boston Celtics has not faltered a bit, even without the presence of Robert Williams III.

As the big man was once again absent from the Game 7 lineup, the defense overall stepped up. The 81 points scored by the Bucks was their lowest scoring output of the postseason.

After a couple of games slipped away in the series, the C’s needed to lock down their defense in Game 7.

They did just that.

Boston regrouped after the first and stifled the Bucks the rest of the way.

Such a dominant defensive showing helps to solidify what the Celtics grinded all of the regular season for. That was to be the best defensive team in the NBA.

Even facing what some call the “most dominant player in the league” in Giannis, the C’s found a way to hold him under his averages in this closeout game.

The performance was encouraging as they forced the Bucks into bad shots and forced them to turn the ball over.

The shamrocks’ defensive energy forced the deer into committing thirteen turnovers. Giannis struggled as the game went on, for each shot seemed to have three Celtic jerseys swarming the Greek Freak.

Daniel Theis added spurts of solid play as he closed out the first with an efficient string of plays. Payton Pritchard came off the bench to pitch in defensively and on the glass, helping switch often and with success.

Expect this momentum to carry into Game 1 in Miami.
