Boston Celtics stud: Grant Williams

While Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown generally receive the majority of praise when it comes to this Boston Celtics team, Game 7 would not have played out the way it did if Grant Williams didn’t have the type of night that he did.

All year long, the third-year forward has proven himself to be such an integral part of the team’s successes but, over their last few contests, he seemed to be a bit out of synch, totaling seven points on a putrid 20 percent shooting from deep since Game 4 which, in turn, played a large role in their 1-2 record during this span

Sunday, however, he seemingly managed to snap out of his recent rut and went on to have arguably the best game of his entire career when the team’s season was on the line.

Finishing the game with just over 39 minutes played, the quasi-big man led all scorers with 27 points and six rebounds on an incredibly efficient 45.5 percent shooting from the floor and 39 percent shooting from deep.

Outside of his offensive production, Williams also provided the high-end defensive efforts that have truly etched his name into the hearts of C’s fans, as he stuck to his on-ball assignments with underrated ease and contributed some stellar help defense that resulted in two highly impressive blocks.

From the eye test to the advanced stats (boasted the game’s highest plus-minus rating of +25), Grant Williams had himself a career night in Sunday’s closeout victory and, without him, perhaps the Boston Celtics wouldn’t be gearing up for yet another Eastern Conference Finals appearance.
