The Boston Celtics have rostered some of the greatest NBA stars in the history of the game, but certainly not all of them. In fact, for every Cs great to dominate, there was an equal and opposite rivaling force. Usually on the Lakers.

Bill Russell had Wilt Chamberlain. Larry Bird and Kevin McHale had Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett had Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol.

While Boston, throughout history, largely has had a top guy, there’s always been someone out there whose star burned brighter in the mainstream basketball-watching world. That’s the draw of Hollywood.

The draw of Boston has been titles and well-put-together rosters top to bottom, often at the expense of the face of the league. History will be written by the game’s transcendent megastars and the Celtics teams that stopped them from monopolizing the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Certain NBA stars will never play for the Boston Celtics

Some players are not meant to don the green and white and play home games at 100 Legends Way. It’s not a role everyone can handle.

These 3 NBA superstars will never play for the Boston Celtics:

1. Giannis Antetokounmpo

No NBA superstar looks less likely to jump ship in his career than the Milwaukee Bucks’ wholesome superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. The ‘Greek Freak’ was involved with plenty of trade scenarios before the Bucks won the 2021 NBA Championship, but that title, clinched by unreal dominance by the eventual Finals MVP after suffering what looked like a serious knee injury in the Eastern Conference finals, likely keeps him in ‘Deer District’ for life.
