Boston Celtics dud: Grant Williams

Outside of his unbelievable outburst in Game 2 where he dropped 21 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor and 67 percent shooting from deep, this second-round series against Milwaukee has been a quiet one for the likes of Grant Williams, and Game 5 proved to be his most silent showing yet.

Without Robert Williams for a second consecutive game as he nurses an ailing left knee, the third-year forward was inserted into the starting lineup as his replacement.

Unfortunately, for the second consecutive game, things did not go well from an individual standpoint.

Finishing the night off with just over 30 minutes played, Williams registered a putrid stat line of just two rebounds, one assist, and a horrid zero points 0-for-3 shooting from the field.

Now, granted, sometimes a player’s log-line doesn’t always tell the full story, for there are plenty of instances where an individual can have their presence and importance felt in other, non counting-stat areas of the game.

Sadly, this was not one of those situations.

Heck, Williams’s defense wasn’t even of much help for the Boston Celtics in this outing either, as he struggled mightily to stay with his assignments, which translated into two costly fouls (finished with four) in the final seconds of regulation that went on to send Antetokounmpo to the free-throw line where, as we covered earlier, Milwaukee got the second-chance opportunity off a miss to put them up for good.

The C’s really could have used a typical showing from Grant Williams in Wednesday’s contest, and they’ll definitely need him to step up if they wish to come away with a win in Game 6.

Next. 3 pass-first point guards the C's must consider this summer. dark
