Boston Celtics offseason target No. 2) Buddy Hield

For literally years now, we at HH have been stating that veteran wing, Buddy Hield, could be a fantastic target for the Boston Celtics to consider pursuing via trade and we’ve even gone as far as to claim him to be a “dream trade target” at this past deadline.

As time has gone by, it appears that more and more people are starting to adhere to these same thoughts, and this list of individuals now includes Buckley who, in his piece, referred to the 29-year-old as a ‘no-brainer’ add for the C’s.

"For his career, he’s a per-game supplier of 3.0 threes in just 29.2 minutes of action. He has also splashed those long-range looks at a 39.8-percent clip. Having him to pull away attention from Tatum and Jaylen Brown would make the Celtics offense even harder for opponents to handle."

Unlike Robinson, Hield is a sharpshooter who actually has the ability to put the ball on the floor and create for himself, be it with his handles to garner space for a jumper or his quickness to finish at the rack.

On top of this, he’s also proven himself to be a quality contributor off the pine, as he put up 14 points and 4.1  boards on 36 percent shooting from deep in such a role. To put this into perspective, Boston’s most trusted second-unit offensive option in Grant Williams has averaged just 7.8 points per game.

Considering their bench has finished 29th, 28th, and 26th, respectively, since 2019-20 in scoring, there’s no doubt that Stevens will almost certainly be in the market for a reliable offensive threat to have come in and serve as a high usage option off the pine for next season and, should he be willing to trade for such a player, Buddy Hield could be the ideal talent to chase.

Verdict: Pursue
