Boston Celtics takeaway No. 2) Jaylen Brown bounceback

Jaylen Brown had one of his worst games of the season in Game 1 of the second round and bounced back in a big way the following contest. Finishing with 30 points, five rebounds, and six assists on 11-of-18 shooting, JB jumpstarted the offense throughout the entire first half, essentially putting the game away early.

He was hitting tons of difficult shots from deep (6-of-10) and in the mid-range but was much more aggressive in finding open looks to get him going. He attacked mismatches such as Grayson Allen and Pat Connaughton, both of whom he’s bigger, faster, and stronger than.

In many lineups, Jrue Holiday is the only positive perimeter defender on the Bucks, so it’s essential for Brown to make these types of plays in both isolation and when in the pick-and-roll.

The element of mid-range is crucial to defeating Milwaukee’s defense, as it’s a much easier shot for the Celtics’ stars.

If both Tatum and Jaylen are getting open looks from 15 feet, they should take them instead of trying to attack a combination of Brook Lopez and Giannis at the rim. The C’s ended up shooting 18-of-37 (46.5 percent) on 2-point attempts, while they only shot 10-of-34 (29.4 percent) from that same range in Game 1.

Jaylen led that charge, recording 17 points in the first quarter and 25 in the first half alone. If that Jaylen Brown shows up for the rest of the series, the Boston Celtics will find themselves in the Eastern Conference Finals for sure.
