Boston Celtics stud: Grant Williams

For quite some time, we found ourselves going back and forth when it came to who between Jaylen Brown and Grant Williams would wind up being slotted into this section for Game 2’s “stud” performer, and, for a while there, we were strongly considering going with the All-Star wing.

After all, he did lead all scorers on the night and converted 61 percent of his attempts from the floor and 60 percent from deep whilst doing it.

That said, while there’s no debate that Brown had an unbelievable game, frankly it is almost expected of the 25-year-old to have outings similar to this on a consistent basis–he’s a main focal on a legitimate championship-contending team in the midst of the postseason for godsakes!

Because of this, we felt that this was reason enough to bestow Williams with the moniker of “stud of the game” and, after having some more time to think about it, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The third-year power forward was an integral part of Boston’s success on both sides of the ball, as he was the main kick-out option off of drives and was consistently tied to the Greek Freak when on the defensive end.

In just over 35 minutes played, Williams finished the night with 21 points, five boards, and two assists on 66.7 percent shooting from downtown.

On top of this, his timing and power against Giannis on the less glamorous side of the ball played a significant role in his off shooting night, especially when the 2x MVP would try to use his size to his advantage on drives and in the post, only to have his momentum thwarted by Williams’ underrated strength.

A two-way menace who finished the game tied for the highest box plus-minus rating, Grant Williams is your Game 2 stud!
