Boston Celtics prediction No. 3) “The Celtics will win in five or six games”

Up 1-0 in this best-of-seven series, the Boston Celtics need just three more wins to exact revenge on the team that sent them home early last season and, in turn, advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Now, while many believe the Brooklyn Nets will come out storming as soon as Game Two and, with this, have a good chance to tie up the series and make it a back-and-forth affair throughout, Zunic is more so under the impression that Boston will find themselves in a prime position to down KD and co. via gentleman’s sweep or, at the very least, by Game Six.

"This series will be defined in the first four games. The Celtics have home-court advantage in the first two and then the series moves to Brooklyn for Games 3 and 4. If the Nets manage to steal one of the first two games, it will be tough for Boston. But if the Celtics take all the home games and steal one in Brooklyn, it could be game over for the Nets. The Celtics should be protecting home court without any issues and should steal at least one in Nets territory. Thus, the Celtics should oust the Nets from the first round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs in five or six games."

This final prediction made would be everything that Boston Celtics fans would want from a first-round matchup against the Nets: they give Brooklyn a taste of their own medicine after they were trounced by similar means during the 2021 postseason while also eliminating their disgraced former franchise point guard, Kyrie Irving, in the process.

Sadly, however, we strongly believe that this will not end up being the case.

Yes, while we agree Boston is certainly the better overall team, solely from a talent standpoint the Nets have the better stars, so much so to the point where they alone can will this series to go the distance.

Even in Game One with a rather mediocre game from Durant (23 points on less than 40 percent shooting), it took an incredible buzzer-beating play by the Boston Celtics to come away with the win.

No way KD plays this poorly twice and it’s also unlikely that we’ll see another game where just one of their stars is playing up to their status.

Because of this, we believe that, though Boston has a good chance of winning in this series, the chance that it doesn’t go to seven is somewhat low.

That said, we hope we’re wrong!
