Boston Celtics dud: Daniel Theis

We feel as though it’s fair to say that Boston Celtics fans should have faith that veteran big man, Daniel Theis, has the potential to be a true asset to this team during their quest to attain banner No. 18 during this year’s playoff run.

With his sound two-way game, coupled with his previous experience serving as a starting big on the last deep run the C’s went on, the German-born baller is certainly capable of holding his own in the frontcourt whilst receiving considerable playing time.

Unfortunately, Sunday was not a game that exemplified these aforementioned qualities and abilities, as the 30-year-old found himself struggling in a multitude of areas during his time on the floor.

Theis saw himself getting into foul trouble a bit earlier than desired, racking up two personals after less than five minutes of play in the first and then went on to receive another quick one at a similar point in the second.

The two that came in quarter one took him out early and were committed when Brooklyn attacked the basket which, unfortunately, may have strengthened Bruce Brown’s defamatory comments, but, hopefully, it’s only temporarily reinforced.

On the game as a whole, the big went on to finish with just four points, six rebounds, and four fouls on a putrid 1-for-6 shooting from the field, many of which were rather simple attempts that just didn’t fall.

Hopefully, Game Two will see a more confident and efficient Daniel Theis serving as the frontcourt mate alongside Al Horford but, as far as his Game One performance goes, he was an easy choice for dud of the contest.
