Boston Celtics: 2 players on non-playoff teams to trade for this summer

Boston Celtics target No. 2) Buddy Hield
In many ways, there’s an argument to be made that Buddy Hield is one of the most ideal trade targets for the Boston Celtics this coming offseason.
The C’s have been looking for someone to both efficiently serve as a tertiary scoring option alongside the Jays as well as for a mere semblance of a scoring punch off the pine for what seems like forever.
The sixth-year vet could come in and fill each one of these needs for Ime Udoka’s ball club.
Since coming into the league back in 2016, Hield has been viewed as one of the game’s most lethal shooters, boasting just shy of a 40 percent conversion clip from 3-point range.
Coming off of yet another solid season in 2021-22, the shooting guard finished off with impressive per-game averages of 15.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists on 36.6 percent shooting from the floor.
Now, on the surface, these numbers should already be viewed as quite impressive, but considering the fact that he found himself coming off the bench for a majority of the campaign they should be seen as all the more stellar and, more importantly, all the more ideal for this Celtics roster.
Of course, when it comes to the concept of Hield making his way to Boston, fans always like to bring up his less-than-stellar (to put it lightly) defensive production.
We get it–he’s bad on this side of the ball.
That said, this team’s defensive prowess is so strong all-around, we believe that even if they added the two-guard to the group to serve as a high-usage sixth man, the supporting cast of characters could make up for a large chunk of his deficiencies, while he would only go on to improve their offensive/ shooting efficiency.
Buddy Hield joining Derrick White to serve as the two primary guard reserves could give this Boston Celtics team a nice new yin yang, one-two punch off the pine who can seemingly be plugged into a plethora of different lineups.
