Boston Celtics key to victory No. 2) Strong bench performance
The best teams in the NBA have bench units that can carry the team at times when their starting five may falter. Fortunately, Boston’s bench unit has begun to come together in the absence of Rob Williams.
Derrick White has continued to improve his shooting and seemingly has finally found his form.
The former Spur has dropped a combined 30 points on 8-for-11 shooting from the floor and four of six from deep.
White’s efficiency and energy have been a jolt for Boston as they push towards the playoffs. To beat Chicago and their playoff-bound squad, the C’s could need a big outing from White and the bench unit.
Following not too far behind is Payton Pritchard, who has continued to turn heads since being thrust into the backup point guard role. Marcus Smart’s understudy has scored in double figures in eight of his last ten games.
Alongside the backcourt duo, is Batman, himself, Grant Williams. The former Tennesee standout has continued to impress, whether it’s in the starting five or as the seventh man. Grant was in peak form on Sunday afternoon, as he posted 16 points while only missing one shot attempt.
These three reserves could be a big-time factor in a Celtic victory.
