Boston Celtics player No. 1) Aaron Nesmith

Our feelings about how the Boston Celtics could go about using Aaron Nesmith are very wishy-washy–one second we’ll be writing about how the youngster could be heading towards a breakout campaign while the next we’ll be discussing how he could be on his way out of Massachusetts this coming summer.

Simply put, despite our desire to believe in his potential of becoming a full-time contributor at the next level, due to his up-and-down type of production over the last two years, it’s been incredibly hard to get a proper read on the former Vanderbilt star and, as a result, it constantly has us questioning whether or not he should be viewed as a long-term contributor for the franchise or not.

However, with his recent showing against Toronto where he put up an impressive 13 points, four rebounds, and three steals on 62.5 percent shooting from the floor and 50 percent shooting from deep, coupled with the team’s rather shallow talent pool behind the Jays out on the wing the coaching staff could give him all the opportunities to prove his worth during this final stretch of the season which could wind up resulting in a playoff rotation spot.

Frankly, the idea of Nesmith earning such a role should only be seen as a positive for both the individual as well as the C’s as a whole, for it would show that he has the ability to positively impact the ball club with his play, thus strengthening his case to come back next season rather than seeing him be shopped in the summer, while also allowing Udoka to use him in spot minutes come round one and, hopefully, beyond to give Tatum and Brown some much-needed rest in an effort to try and stave off any more high-impact injuries.

As the Celtics approach the beginning of the playoffs, we expect to see Udoka giving Aaron Nesmith every opportunity to play himself into the rotation.
