Boston Celtics Takeaway #3: This Cs team can hang with anyone in the league

There were doubts to whether or not the Celtics were really legit after they started to turn things around. The skepticism came from the inability to tell whether the first few wins was just a hot stretch or a real corner turning moment.

A common narrative against their recent success is that they haven’t played anyone good and have been fortunate to play injured teams. The reality is that those narratives couldn’t be further from the truth.

Since falling to 16-19, the Boston Celtics have won 30 of their last 39 games. In that same time frame they have the best defensive rating, the best net rating, the second best record, and the biggest winning margin.

20 of the Boston Celtics last 39 games were against teams that are currently in the playoff picture. Their record in those games is a staggering 16-4 which includes a few huge blowouts. It is worth mentioning that three of those four losses came before the month of February.

In just the last seven days alone they have won five games, three of which were against playoff teams, by a combined score of 108 points.

The Celtics aren’t just beating everyone, they are destroying everyone.

This doesn’t mean they will win their 18th championship this year but at this current moment in time, it is extremely difficult to justify picking anyone over them in a seven-game series.
