Boston Celtics dud: Derrick White
Ok, even though Derrick White has been deemed “dud of the game” in our previous pieces as well, we PROMISE we have no vendetta against him.
Frankly, it truly pains us to feel like he’s worthy of such a label for, upon his arrival, many of us at the site were claiming that his addition to the rotation was a great move for the team to have made, both in the now as well as for the long-term.
Having said that, we cannot deny that, during this west coast road trip, White has found himself struggling mightily and Sunday was sadly just a continuation of his faulty play.
Despite being one of the eight players we mentioned earlier who received 20+ minutes of playing time, of this bunch, the veteran was the only one to register a negative plus-minus rating by the end of regulation (-2).
In 23 minutes on the floor, White put up just six points, three assists, and a board on 40 percent shooting from the floor while missing both of his 3-point attempts (not surprising considering how poorly he’s shot all season, but still upsetting to see).
Though he was one of the main rotational players for the Celtics on the game, the 27-year-old failed to make any real impact on the ball club.
Even when he was out in garbage time with a majority of the end of bench guys, White, someone who should have easily been seen as the best talent on the floor for his team, was still finding himself struggling while also playing second-fiddle to Payton Pritchard (who had a phenomenal game himself).
Boston may be undefeated since embarking on their road trip, but Derrick White has not been a real reason as for why, and, against the Nuggets, this remained the case.
