3 Boston Celtics players at risk of being traded this summer
By Mark Nilon
Boston Celtics player No. 2) Al Horford
Unlike the other two players that you’ll see mentioned here today, Al Horford‘s inclusion on this list has nothing to do with his performance this season with the Boston Celtics.
In fact, on numerous occasions, we’ve gone on to praise the veteran for just how integral he’s been during the team’s midseason turnaround, even describing him as one of the most underrated contributors during this impressive stretch.
Frankly, the reason why we believe the big man could find himself on the move this summer is, in large, due to his contract.
This summer, the salary-capped shamrocks could simply be looking to make some room in an effort to clear up space in order to pursue other players on the open market or, preferably for some, look to acquire talents via trade that are attached to rather-lofty paydays.
Considering Horford is slated to make upwards of $26 million next season, his contract would be an optimal choice for Boston to attach in a deal heading outbound.
Though it would be hard to say goodbye for the second time, should the C’s be interested in accomplishing either one of these two aforementioned tasks, it’s almost a guarantee that the 35-year-old (will be 36 come the start of next season) would have to be offloaded to make the money work.
