Boston Celtics trade partner No. 1) Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic are obviously a team looking to rebuild and embark on a full-fledged youth movement. Currently in their collection of youngsters they find themselves boasting an overwhelming abundance of young guards and a solid amount of young bigs within their arsenal yet they seem to be lacking significantly when it comes to wing prospects.

Because of this, a talent like Aaron Nesmith could prove to be an intriguing target for them to pursue this coming offseason, especially if it means they can offload some of their veterans in the process.

Throughout the last several years, we’ve seen these two parties being linked as potential trade partners, with Terrence Ross being the main person of interest in these rumblings.

With the fact that he wasn’t dealt at the trade deadline for the second straight season–despite reports that the Magic were open to the idea–, heading into the final year of his contract Orlando could find themselves once again entertaining the concept of moving their aging wing, and what could be more ideal than swapping him out for someone of the same position at a much younger age to better fit the team’s timeline?

Coming into the 2020 NBA Draft, Nesmith was viewed by many as one of the best scoring prospects and arguably the best shooter in his respective class.

Though things haven’t gone as many believed they would when the C’s snagged him with the 14th overall pick, during his near two-year stint in the association he’s shown flashes of having the ability to translate his collegiate skills to the pros, though he hasn’t been able to showcase this potential at a consistent rate.

Perhaps a team in the midst of a youth movement who can bestow him the proper amount of time and attention could be all the difference in his much-needed development, and the promise of this could prove to be enough to have the Orlando Magic be interested in pursuing the second-year wing.
