Potential Boston Celtics summer target No. 4) Patty Mills

The Brooklyn Nets have become more and more similar to a circus as the season has progressed which, in turn, could have negative effects on the team as a whole beyond 2021-22, especially if they don’t wind up winning that highly-coveted title by season’s end.

With this in mind, should the team underwhelm for the second year in a row (in regard to expectations, that is), the multitude of players that they roster who are either slated for unrestricted free agency or who hold player options could realistically opt to bypass another potential season of headaches and simply jump ship this upcoming summer.

One of the individuals that fit the latter bill is veteran point guard Patty Mills who, this past offseason, was reportedly someone that was highly coveted by the Boston Celtics and was even viewed as a very realistic potential signing considering his long-standing relationship with coach Udoka from their time with the San Antonio Spurs.

Ultimately, the guard chose the supposed greener pastures of Brooklyn, as they seemed to be closer to title contention than the shamrocks were what with the fact that the Nets had three superstars in tow in Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden and, for players in the twilight stages of their career, stockpiling championship rings is typically viewed as the preferred course of action.

Fast forward several months later and we find that it is Boston being viewed as the serious championship contender while the aforementioned tantalizing trio is no more than a distant memory, as Harden was traded at this year’s deadline, Irving is a mere part-time player with his decision to not get vaccinated against COVID-19, and Durant has been in and out of the lineup with injuries.

With this in mind, perhaps this shift in status between the franchises, coupled with the ongoing internal drama in Brooklyn, could make Mills opt-out of his contract come year’s end and test the open waters of free agency and, should he do this, one could argue that him pairing with the C’s could be an ideal match for both parties.

As stated already, the 13-year veteran already has an established relationship with Udoka and is likely looking to add another ring to his collection before he opts to call it a career.

For Boston, they could certainly use for extra shot-makers within their arsenal, especially within their second-unit that, as we mentioned earlier in this piece, rank as one of the worst offensive units in the entire league.

On the year, Mills finds himself posting impressive per-game averages of 12.5 points, 2.5 assists, and two boards on nearly 42 percent shooting from deep.

Such production would be a blessing on virtually any title-contending team, and his past experience on such rosters could only stand to benefit the Boston Celtics even more

Potential Boston Celtics summer target No. 5) Bryn Forbes

For quite a while now, we a HH have advocated for a Bryn Forbes signing and, being that he’s slated to hit unrestricted free agency this coming offseason, one should expect that we’ll be pounding this proverbial drum once more.

While he may not be a household name, throughout his career the sixth-year pro has established himself as one of the most efficient sharpshooters in the entire association and, well, the Boston Celtics could certainly use for someone of this skillset.

Currently on the year, the 28-year-old finds himself posting solid averages of 9.4 points per game on 43 percent shooting from the floor and nearly 42 percent shooting from deep while also sporting an effective field goal percentage of 60.7.

Though he’s certainly not the most electrifying player found on this list today, a guy like Bryn Forbes could actually prove to be the most seamless fit within the C’s scheme.
