Potential Boston Celtics summer target No. 2) Jeff Green

At this year’s deadline, we heard whispers that the Boston Celtics were interested in a reunion with former forward, Jeff Green.

Now, while the front office ultimately opted not to strike a deal for the veteran, being that he has a player-option heading into this summer and, in turn, could wind up being an unrestricted free agent, we could once again see the C’s looking into the concept of signing the 35-year-old.

Currently serving as a predominant starter on the Denver Nuggets, Green has continued to find himself producing rather effectively despite being well beyond his prime years.

Through 63 games played, Green is posting 10.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists on 51 percent shooting from the floor.

On the Celtics, he could be utilized as someone who can provide veteran leadership for this still relatively youthful roster as well as a player who can help boost the scoring production off the pine, something that has constantly kept him as a mainstay within rotations during these twilight years of his career.

Being that he’s still performing quite well, coupled with the fact that he has already established relationships with both Brad Stevens (served as C’s head coach during his time in Boston) and Ime Udoka (served as an assistant coach during his time in Brooklyn), come summertime, we could easily see these two parties look to reunite.

Potential Boston Celtics summer target No. 3) Taurean Prince

Though the Boston Celtics may be a team boasting two of the best wings in the association, oddly enough the position as a whole isn’t all that strong in the depth department despite the fact that they used a lottery pick on players of this ilk in two consecutive drafts.

Because of this, the front office should strongly consider looking into addressing their shallow arsenal in this area of the roster come the offseason, and we believe someone like Taurean Prince would be a quality target to pursue on the open market.

Though perhaps not the sexiest of names–especially when considering his current production of 6.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game at a $13 million clip–the sixth-year pro could prove to be a great gamble for the Celtics to take a swing at once his current contract runs out.

While he may have found himself struggling for the better part of the past two seasons, the 27-year-old still possesses several quality traits that a team highly covets, particularly athleticism, defensive potential, and long-range shooting.

For his career as a whole, the forward holds averages of 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and just shy of a steal per game on 37 percent shooting from deep.

Bringing on someone who can properly back up the Jays should be viewed as a top priority for Boston’s decision-makers this summer, and Taurean Prince, for the right price, has the potential to be a real home-run snag.
