With the way they’ve managed to play over these past few months, the Boston Celtics have successfully turned themselves into legitimate title contenders and, being that the majority of key players within the rotation are signed on for the next several years, it’s reasonable to believe that, come the offseason, with the help of a few savvy moves the franchise could wind up putting themselves in a position to be even more lethal once 2022-23 rolls around.

Unfortunately, due to the fact that they already have ample money committed to the team’s core foundation, the shamrocks will undoubtedly be stingy when it comes to their spending habits this summer.

That said, even with bare-minimum cap-spae to work with, there’s still a legitimate chance that the C’s can pull in some quality free agents if they play their cards right by either pursuing some under-the-radar veterans or taking advantage of their personal ties with specific individuals from across the league.

With this in mind, during these next fews months, we at HH believe there are 5 impending free agents that the Boston Celtics should be monitoring closely:

Potential Boston Celtics summer target No. 1) Lou Williams

For the better part of the past several seasons, the Boston Celtics have found themselves rolling out one of the worst bench units in the entire league when it comes to scoring production, and 2021 has proven to be no different.

As of this writing, the team finds itself ranking in at 26th overall in points per game and next to last in Offensive Rating.

Obviously one of this team’s most glaring weaknesses, come the offseason Brad Stevens and co. must seriously look into ways in which they could help bolster the team’s second-unit offense and perhaps one method of doing so could be by bringing on the likes of veteran scoring aficionados, Lou Williams.

Now yes, we’re well aware of the fact that, at 35-years-old (36 once next season starts up), the two-guard is well past his prime and is no longer the perennial Sixth Man of the Year award winner that he once was.

That being said, even at this stage of his career, Williams would be a tremendous addition to the C’s bench rotation, as he’s still someone who can create scoring opportunities for himself while also being able to effectively convert on his off-ball attempts.

Through 46 games played with Atlanta this season we see the 17-year veteran putting up 16.9 points, 4.9 assists, and 3.9 boards per 75 possessions on 36 percent shooting from deep and is boasting an effective field goal percentage of 60 percent in catch-and-shoot scenarios.

Assuming he wouldn’t command much more than the veteran minimum, snagging Lou Williams in in the offseason could prove to be a tremendous move to make for Boston.
