The Boston Celtics are playing like one of the best ball clubs in the entire association since the calendar page flipped the January, going 24-9 during this span, the third-best mark in the NBA since the start of 2022.

As a result, the once sub-.500 C’s are viewed by the masses as legitimate title contenders this year and have the numbers to back up this high praise.

With this, it is a sound assumption that, come playoff time, no team in the league is going to want to square off against the boys in green, for they pose a serious threat to all of their potential opponents once the big tournament rolls around.

In fact, according to the folks at Bleacher Report, the Boston Celtics could be argued as being a true “nightmare matchup” for even the best squads, including the top-seeded Miami Heat.

Citing their unbelievable production on the less glamorous side of the floor, particularly when it comes to contesting the long ball, writer Greg Swartz is under the impression that there could be some wonky shooting in South Beach should these two storied franchises matchup against one another:

"Boston has held the best net rating in basketball for the past three months (plus-9.6), led by an elite defense that now features Derrick White. This is especially problematic for a Heat team that features the three-ball as a large portion of its offense. Miami ranks first in three-point success rate this season (37.5 percent) and is seventh overall in made threes per game (13.3). The Heat need the balance of an outside attack from players such as Kyle Lowry, Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Max Strus and P.J. Tucker to help give Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo the spacing they need to attack and find open cutters. No team has been better defending the arc this season than Boston, however. The Celtics hold opponents to just 33.6 percent shooting from three, the best mark in the East and second overall in the NBA behind only the Phoenix Suns. White, Marcus Smart and Jaylen Brown are all terrific perimeter defenders who could help shut down Miami’s guards from long range."

Now, though the NBA postseason is still a little over a month away, it’s never too early to start thinking up potential scenarios that could wind up taking place.

We at HH have certainly already gone about discussing some rather underrated teams the Boston Celtics could find themselves going up against, one of which is the Heat who, though may struggle in the 3-point department, have plenty of other positives about them that could ultimately spell trouble for the shamrocks in a seven-game series.

As we get closer to the playoffs, fans and media alike will get a better sense of which teams are legitimate contenders and which are pretenders but, as of this writing, B/R’s Greg Swartz is convinced that the C’s are a troubling matchup for the likes of Miami.
