Boston Celtics offseason target No. 2) Christian Wood

Christian Wood was a guy the Boston Celtics reportedly almost traded for back at the 2020 NBA trade deadline, but talks fell through.

Since then, he’s been running the show as a member of the Houston Rockets, averaging a double-double of 17.9 points and10.1 rebounds while shooting 49 percent from the field and 38 percent from deep.

The Rockets are in a clear rebuilding phase, and collecting young assets seems to be the direction that they’re to go.

Seeing that he’s only 26 and is more of a “win now” type of player, he doesn’t necessarily fit their timeline.

Wood is somewhat of a traditional NBA big. His game relies mostly on playing his back to the basket and making his presence known in the paint.

His defense is average, but Rob Williams would be able to make up for it down low, seeing that Williams has been a force in the paint defensively.

Wood is an underrated passer (he currently averages 2.2 assists per game) so his playmaking down low could mirror similar to what Horford brings to the table.

By adding scoring, additional rebounding, and underrated playmaking, Wood could be a solid third option to the C’s.
