Boston Celtics Daniel Theis trade target #3: C Richaun Holmes, Sacramento Kings

This would be the biggest upgrade of the three Hardwood Houdini-approved Daniel Theis trade candidates. Richaun Holmes could be a starter on more than 2/3rds of the teams in the NBA.

Robert Williams likely has a higher ceiling and will finish off his career with better numbers, but Holmes’ presence would infinitely improve the frontcourt if and when the ‘Time Lord’ ever had to hit the pine for any extended period of time.

When the Domantas Sabonis trade went down, the Sacramento Bee’s Jason Anderson felt as though Holmes’ time in Sac-Town was limited:

"Holmes seemed to have an established role as the team’s starting center for the foreseeable future when he re-signed with the Kings last summer, but nothing has gone as planned. The situation in Sacramento has changed with the Kings failing to meet expectations this season, and now the roster has changed, too, leaving Holmes in limbo as the organization charts a path forward."

Holmes relative inactivity since the deal has not helped pour water on that fire either. Holmes could be a goner, and if the Sacramento Kings front office sticks to their own snake-bitten script, perhaps he could be had reasonably cheap with Theis’ deal as the main trade chip.
