The 2021-22 season has been an absolute joy of an experience up to this point for Boston Celtics fans, as they’ve seen their favorite ball club rise from the ashes of mediocrity all the way up to legitimate title-contention status, and we still have 16 more games in the regular season to go for them to continue on their upward trajectory.

However, while this year’s campaign has a decent amount of time remaining in it, this hasn’t stopped media outlets from looking ahead to the upcoming offseason to figure out ways in which this front office can go about and make the team even better come 2022-23.

In a recent piece by the folks at Bleacher Report, writer, Greg Swartz, proposed several offseason trade ideas that the league’s ‘most hopeless teams’ could look to make in an effort to better position themselves for a brighter future and, within the article, he went on to propose a deal the Indiana Pacers could pursue with the C’s involving offensive stud, Buddy Hield, heading to Beantown.

The exact trade concocted reads as follows:

Citing the team’s still apparent need for added shot creators and floor spacers, Swartz believes the Boston Celtics would be quite pleased with the concept of bringing on a player of Hield’s skill set.

"Boston could use a shooter to mix into a backcourt of Marcus Smart and Derrick White, as the Celtics rank just 22nd in three-point accuracy (34.5 percent) this season. A new starting lineup of Smart, Hield, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Robert Williams III with White as a sixth man would feature plenty of scoring, defense and floor-spacing."

The concept of seeing the Boston Celtics trade for Buddy Hield is nothing new for Boston Celtics fans, as well as us here at the Houdini.

In fact, leading up to the trade deadline we were very high on the idea of seeing Brad Stevens and co. strike a deal for the sixth-year wing, going as far as referring to him as a “dream trade target” for the organization.

Through 65 games played this year, the recently acquired Pacers guard finds himself posting 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists on 36 percent shooting from deep and, since arriving in Indiana, has been averaging an impressive 20 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per contest.

While the idea of shipping out Al Horford may be viewed as non-ideal for some, for his impact on this year’s squad, particularly on the defensive side of the ball and in the locker room, has been truly underrated, being able to add someone like Buddy Hield for his expiring contract should be seen as a potentially high-impact move to make and, in turn, should be strongly considered if ever a real possibility.
