Boston Celtics takeaway No.1)  The injury bug is ugly

With Jaylen Brown on the shelf, the Boston Celtics looked to the combo of Aaron Nesmith and Derrick White to fill the void. The former Spurs’ abilities are better harnessed as the sixth man, while the former Vanderbilt star was allowed to draw the start on Thursday night.

This was a major chance for the 2020 first-round pick to produce and possibly earn more minutes down the line. Unfortunately for Nesmith, he suffered a right ankle sprain and was quickly ruled out of the showdown.

As a result of the Nesmith and Brown injuries, the C’s become even thinner at the wing spot.

This could mean they become more active in the buyout market. Within minutes of the game’s end, it was announced that Boston had agreed to a two-year deal with the former first-round pick, Nik Stauskas.

With the injuries stacking up at the moment, it will be important for Boston to be as resilient as ever. We have seen the green and white bounce back from adversity numerous times this year, and they need to do so one more time to overcome the injuries.

The most interesting piece will be seeing if Derrick White remains the sixth man or shifts into the starting five.

With Marcus Smart and Robert Williams III missing games before the All-Star break, health has to be a growing concern for the shamrocks as well.

Depending on how long Nesmith is out, we could see an increase in minutes for Sam Hauser or Kelan Martin or even the recently signed Stauskas.
