Boston Celtics takeaway No. 3) Jayson Tatum is All-NBA caliber

Jayson Tatum does not get enough credit from the media for the ways he has improved in the last few months for the Boston Celtics.

The 6-8 wing has shown us C’s fans the best and most complete version of himself yet.

He is making the right reads offensively and breaking down opposing defenses. The ability to know when to get his own shot or make the pass out of a double team.

The star is approaching top-10 status if he is not there already. This game serves to add to this narrative.

Tatum is becoming one of the best two-way players in the NBA.

The All-Star holds the highest offensive and defensive ratings among wings in the league currently. This version of JT can lead the Celtics far and possibly to that coveted banner 18.

Against the Atlanta Hawks, the superstar was quietly unreal.

All of the sudden, you look up and Tatum scored 33 points in a highly efficient and non-flashy manner, operating all within the team concept and not overplaying any hands.

The old Jay may have overdribbled into careless turnovers. He may have wasted most of a 24-second shot clock with a heavy isolation attack.

The young gun is learning to pick his spots and knowing when to make the right basketball play.

Lately, he has been keeping his words to officials down and playing through contact, and getting off to quicker starts instead of laying a goose egg in the first half.

Teams will often go as their best players do and he is only trending up, much like the Celtics are in the standings.
