Boston Celtics: 1 stud and 1 dud from C’s valiant victory over Atlanta

Boston Celtics stud: Derrick White
As we said, Jaylen Brown went down early on in Tuesday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics which, in turn, left the Boston Celtics without their 1B option on both sides of the ball.
Because of this, the team needed some of their other players to step up and pick up the slack on both offense and defense and, lucky for them, recently acquired guard, Derrick White, wound up reaping the benefits of these newly available minutes at the two.
In 28 minutes played, the 27-year-old wound up putting up a solid 18 points (tied for second-most for the team on the night) to go along with five assists and two boards on 54 percent shooting from the floor.
Despite the fact that his 3-point shot continued to be off on the night (shot just 1-5 from deep), White made sure not to have this deter him from looking to contribute in other ways on the offensive side of the floor, as he looked to his trusty floater, strong mid-range stroke, and, of course, his set-up skills.
Defensively, while it may have taken him a bit of time to get into a rhythm, he managed to successfully take over Brown’s role of predominantly sticking with Hawks star, Trae Young, when on defense, helping to limit the point guard to just nine points in the second half on just 4-for-13 shooting.
Putting forth arguably the best game of his Boston Celtics tenure, Derrick White’s two-way versatility was on full display against Atlanta and, should he eventually reclaim his shooting stroke, this team will only wind up becoming even more dangerous as a result.
