Team the Boston Celtics could surpass No. 3) Milwaukee Bucks

Last but certainly not least we have the defending NBA Champions, the Milwaukee Bucks making their way onto our list of teams the Boston Celtics could realistically surpass in this year’s Eastern Conference race.

Though this ball club is certainly having themselves a nice follow-up campaign in 2021-22, with Giannis Antetokounmpo continuing to play up to his superstar status, and Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday helping to complete one of the more menacing Big-3’s currently in the league, this team shockingly finds itself just one spot ahead of the C’s in the standings and, based on many factors, this placement could wind up switching rather soon.

Overall, the Bucks find themselves sporting a solid record of 36-25 which, on the surface, is quite solid.

However, since the New Year, they’ve played a somewhat mediocre brand of basketball, going 12-12 through their last 24 outings, and, over the past five games, they have managed to cultivate four losses.

On top of all this, what makes things all the more worrisome for Milwaukee is the fact that, like Chicago, they, too, find themselves heading into the second-half attached to one of the more challenging schedules, ranking in as having the fourth-hardest final two-month stretch of this season, per Positive Residual’s previously mentioned metrics.

Considering that this recently slumping Bucks team will be matching up against the likes of the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, and the Utah Jazz all within their next eight games, it wouldn’t be a shocker to see the defending champs continue on with their downward trend in the standings, especially when taking into account that half of Boston’s next eight games will be against sub-.500 teams.
