Boston Celtics takeaway No. 1) An offensive clinic for the C’s

The calling card for this Boston Celtics team all year long has been their stingy defensive identity, but do not sleep on an offense that is rounding into form.

A nightly notable was the C’s hitting 17 of their 42 treys which were good near 41 percent on the night. An awesome mark for any team, but this is a 360-degree change from a team that could not hit the side of a barn standing on a farm earlier in the year.

A trigger point for effective 3-point shooting is an unselfish display of team-oriented basketball, guys passing up good shots for greater shots. Eyes always up to hit the open teammate and dissect an opposing Nets defense that ranks 28th in the league.

The Celtics had 28 assists on the night, none bigger than the play of the game which was a slick bounce pass dime from Marcus Smart en route to a Jayson Tatum facial dunk on Andre Drummond.

The two-man game between these two is among the best in the NBA.

Boston had seven players in double figures to lead a very balanced offensive attack. An attack that used to be largely dependent on huge outings from the Jays.

Now, it’s about the team and how everyone can work to make the right basketball play.

Right now, the Boston Celtics are looking like a contender with a top defense and middle-of-the-pack offense. Imagine what they will look like if the offense continues this stellar play to end the season.
