Former Boston Celtics player No. 3) Carsen Edwards

Not many players had a more disappointing offseason than former Boston Celtics guard, Carsen Edwards.

The soon-to-be third-year pro was shipped from Beantown to the Memphis Grizzlies and then promptly waived before he could even throw on a jersey.

There was not much noise about the former Boilermaker until he started lighting up the G-League for the Salt Lake City Stars.

The combo guard had an amazing stretch of five games, averaging over 30 points per contest.

Originally drafted in hopes of being a microwave bench scorer for the C’s but showed few flashes mostly in unimportant games like preseason and in the Summer League.

When the lights actually came on in the NBA season, his Celtics tenure in two seasons was uneventful and forgetful.

Pepperidge farms probably remembers the type of knockdown shooter he was during his March Madness days, but for many like myself, it remains a distant memory.

I was shocked when Carsen Edwards was shipped out of Boston after what I felt was an incredible Las Vegas Summer League for him.

That last-ditch effort to stay with the shamrocks failed, but I did see the tides turning for the 5-11 guard.

He was starting to become a more well-rounded player by playing the passing lanes well defensively, pounding the glass for boards, running in transition, and making heady basketball plays.

Probably the leader of that stellar Summer League Boston Celtics squad.

The issue is we have seen Edwards shine when the lights are not on and the games are not as big.  However, during an actual NBA season, he struggled to make the most of his opportunity.

I added him to this target list because I’m banking on his improvement as a player. Some guys take a while to find their niche and find a more unconventional way of sticking on an NBA roster.

The former second-round pick is far from done with his league pursuits.
