3 free agents worth the Boston Celtics kicking the tires on

Boston Celtics free agent target No. 3) Tyreke Evans
Though he may not have played a lick of NBA basketball since the days when Marcus Morris was on the Boston Celtics and Jaylen Brown still had his flat top, Tyreke Evans is a player that is bound to warrant a ton of interest from teams looking to bolster their roster depth.
After having served a two-year ban from the association for violating their anti-drug program, the veteran wing was officially reinstated earlier this week which, in turn, makes him a free agent that could be pursued by any and all teams across the league.
To us, the C’s should be one of those teams interested in bringing on his services.
Despite the fact that Boston is one of the hotter teams in the league right now, they still have a major weakness that could ultimately hold them back from reaching their full potential.
That weakness, as many of you may know, is their bench and, specifically, their second-unit scoring abilities.
Ranking 26th in points per game, 25th in field goal percentage, and next to last in overall offensive rating, it’s no secret that this Celtics bench has a major problem on the more glamorous side of the ball.
A guy like Evans, however, could wind up being a real difference-maker in this department if brought on board.
Prior to his suspension, the now 32-year-old was viewed by many as being one of the more versatile offensive role players in the game, boasting solid career averages of 15.7 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game.
Last we saw him back in 2018-19, he was suiting up for the Indiana Pacers where, in 20 minutes a night, he posted averages of 10.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and just shy of a steal per game on 35.6 percent shooting from deep.
An overwhelming reason for why the shamrocks have found themselves on such a hot streak as of late is due to the play of their first six rotation which, in turn, means that they can afford to experiment a bit with their second-unit lineup.
Because of this, taking a swing on a low-risk, high-reward option like Tyreke Evans could be a great move for Boston to make.
