Rumor that could be brutal for Boston Celtics No. 2) Harrison Barnes to Knicks

As has already been alluded to, two players that the Boston Celtics had reportedly shown interest in pursuing via trade this year in Domantas Sabonis and Buddy Hield have already found new homes prior to the deadline.

Now, according to recent reports, it appears that they may be running the risk of seeing a third rumored target be sent somewhere other than Massachusetts, as Marc Berman of the New York Post claims that the Knicks have reportedly asked the Sacramento Kings about the availability of veteran forward, Harrison Barnes.

Dating back to even last year’s deadline, it has been rumored that Boston has had an interest in the idea of acquiring the 29-year-old to pair alongside the likes of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown within the frontcourt and, based on his specific skill set and overall stellar play, we at HH actually are quite confident that such a pairing could wind up doing wonders for the team.

Viewed by us as an ideal trade target for the C’s, the 10-year-veteran would provide Boston with quite a number of benefits, including championship experience (won 2015 title as a starter with the Golden State Warriors), a tertiary scoring threat with the ability to thrive in a rotation alongside others who demand a high/ higher volume of touches, and a proper way to end the dreadful double-big experiment.

Now yes, we understand that the Celtics as currently constructed have been firing on all cylinders as of late, producing like one of the best teams in the entire league since the calendar flipped to 2022.

Even still, this does not mean that they shouldn’t try to be aggressive during this year’s deadline in an effort to bolster the talent pool around their star players, and Barnes could prove to be exactly what this team needs to keep trending in the right direction and, in turn, have them transition into once again being considered a legitimate playoff contender as soon as this year.

At this point, should they not wish to see another player become unavailable to them because they have already been traded, Brad Stevens and co. might want to start getting the ball rolling on their own trade endeavors.

Harrison Barnes being dealt to New York would just continue to complicate Boston’s plans.
