Boston Celtics trade partner No. 2) Dallas Mavericks

Speaking of a front office trying to make their star player happy…

Just a few short years ago, the Dallas Mavericks went about and struck a blockbuster trade with the New York Knicks that brought All-Star power forward, Kristaps Porzingis, down to Texas.

The thought process was, due to his age coupled with his specific skill-set, the big man would help compliment franchise cornerstone, Luka Doncic, where, in turn, the duo could then go on throughout the years developing and dominating alongside one another.

Four years later, we see one half of the tandem absolutely exploding, as Doncic has become a legitimate superstar in the NBA and, through 36 games played this season, is averaging a near triple-double of 25.6 points, 8.9 assists, and 8.9 rebounds per game while guiding the Mavs to the fifth seed out in the Western Conference standings with a record of 29-22.

As for the other half in Porzingis, he has not managed to live up to expectations, having been rather inconsistent with his play (especially in the postseason) throughout his tenure while seeing a bevy of injuries along the way.

Because of this underwhelming turnout, it has been rumored on many occasions that Dallas may actually be interested in parting ways with KP and, in turn, look to find a new running mate that could be better suited to shine alongside their MVP-caliber point guard and, with this, many have discussed the concept of seeing Mark Cuban’s ball club making a splash for Boston’s wing.

Like Luka, Jaylen Brown can be slotted into multiple positions within a lineup, having the size and skills to thrive from the two all the way down to a small-ball four.

A major problem for the Mavericks over the past several years, and especially this one, has been their lack of playmakers outside of Doncic, who is responsible for an unhealthy amount of the team’s overall point production (ranks fifth in the league in points created).

Brown would absolutely help on this front, as he’s a tremendous scorer who, over the past three seasons, has averaged 23 points per game on 48 percent shooting from the floor and 38 percent shooting from deep.

While many are under the impression that the wing is at his best on offense when in isolation sets, it mustn’t be forgotten that he is also a competent and, frankly, willing off-ball scorer who is converting on 37 percent of his catch-and-shoot triples this season and boasts a 56.6 effective field goal percentage in catch-and-shoot attempts as a whole.

Jaylen Brown in town would give Dallas a fantastic second option who already knows how to excel alongside another top-notch young stud while also giving them a two-way star to help raise their efforts on both sides of the ball.
