Boston Celtics: 3 trades to add support for Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum
Why the Boston Celtics do it
If anything is clear about this year’s team, it’s that Al Horford’s return and Dennis Schroder’s addition were not the game-changers Brad Stevens hoped they would be. Sending the pair, who aren’t exactly dead-eye shooters, away for two legitimate sixth men candidates (Caris LeVert, Jeremy Lamb) and a point guard who could potentially start (T.J. McConnell) is a package worth giving up a pick to dump the aforementioned duo.
Why the Indiana Pacers do it
Parts are going to be flying all over the place in Indiana. The Pacers are about to embark on an epic fire sale that should change the entire direction of the team moving forward.
A shift to youth is a must, as is a trip to the bottom of the standings. Their middle ground occupancy got them nowhere, and it’s time to part with anything of value.
Taking the Celtics’ first-round draft pick in 2023 before absorbing (and later dumping) Al Horford and Dennis Schroder would be the best course of action for Chad Buchanan and the Indiana Pacers front office before the February 10th trade deadline.
