To most fans, it’s already more than apparent that the Boston Celtics must look to take care of business during this year’s trade season.

Dating back to last season (including playoffs) the franchise finds itself boasting an overall losing record of 60-62 and, should they not make changes soon, the C’s will likely just continue their downward trajectory until they’re once again sent packing early on into the postseason — that is if they’re even lucky enough to get there.

That said, while it’s evident that roster shakeups are a necessity if they truly wish to turn their campaign around, it’s imperative that the front office goes about and makes the right kinds of decisions and not simply take part in transactions with the sole purpose of making one.

Now yes, while this seems as though it’s an obvious statement, based on the rumblings surrounding some recently listed targets there is a bit of worry that first-year President of Basketball Operations, Brad Stevens, may find himself being drawn towards name recognition rather than potential fit within the system.

With this in mind, today we at HH will be discussing 3 recently linked trade targets that make no sense for the Boston Celtics:

Boston Celtics target No. 1) Myles Turner

To some, seeing the likes of Myles Turner on a list of trade targets that make no sense for the Boston Celtics may seem a bit odd, what with the fact that, for the better part of the past two years, we at the Houdini have been quite vocal about our desire to see him donning green and white threads.

Now, while we still believe that he could ultimately prove to be a quality addition to this shamrocks squad, there are two reasons, in specific, why we don’t see a pursuit of him being all that logical: his recent injury news and the stupendous production put forth already by Robert Williams III.

Earlier this week it was reported that the Pacers’ big man has sustained a stress fracture in his left foot which, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, will keep him sidelined beyond February’s trade deadline.

Due to where they currently stand, should the Celtics actually look to make a trade this season it should unequivocally be for someone who can come in and immediately make an impact — with this injury, Turner would automatically be coming in as a questionable commodity as he continues to recover.

On top of this, the Time Lord has proven to be an absolute gem at the pivot thus far into the year, putting up a stellar 16.9 points, 15.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3.6 blocks per 100 possessions on a whopping 74 percent shooting from the floor while also anchoring the team’s sixth-ranked defense and sporting a stellar 143 offensive rating.

Bringing on the likes of Turner would only further complicate things for this team which, in turn, makes it hard to envision him as being a quality target to pursue.
