The Boston Celtics won a game they were supposed to this past Monday afternoon, something we don’t usually say in 2021-22.

Primarily because matinees are not a normal fixture on a weekday in the NBA, but also because the Cs have not done the best jobs beating bad teams that they are supposed to beat with ease.

Luckily, they had no such issues and handled the New Orleans Pelicans with an easy spread cover during a Martin Luther King day mid-day matchup for those that were fortunate enough to be off from work to catch the action.

Tonight, they welcome the Eastern Conference’s #7 team–and a team they would potentially have to play in an NBA Play-in game to qualify for the playoffs if current seeding held–the Charlotte Hornets.

Hardwood Houdini has a prediction, odds, and TV information for the Wednesday night matchup at the TD Garden:

Boston Celtics vs. Charlotte Hornets odds, spread, over/under

According to WynnBet, the Celtics are a 5.5-point favorite against the Hornets at home. Charlotte is a +165 underdog on the road, with the Cs moneyline set at -200. The over/under for the game has been placed at 219.5 points.

Celtics vs. Hornets prediction

Coming into this one, the Houdini figured the over was looking to be the move. These two teams waged war back in October and ended up in overtime, scoring a combined 269 points. That more than sailed past the over, and that had us thinking that there’d be no way we’d fade the idea of another explosive outing from both teams.

We’re going to, though, with a prediction that the losing team will score under 100 points.

Pick: 219.5u (-110)
