Lake Show Life’s Jason Reed was not kidding when he called his four-team mock blockbuster a ‘league-shifting’ one. In his scenario, the Boston Celtics land Ben Simmons.

And the best part? He doesn’t attempt to rope Jaylen Brown into it, which of course would render any mock trade as impossible in real life. Brown isn’t going anywhere, but the players the Cs part with in Reed’s deal certainly can.

After last night’s embarrassing 111-99 loss to the Sixers, which had a misleading score due to the C’s second unit making a late run, and that didn’t even include Simmons–who is steadfast in sitting out every game moving forward he is still in Philadelphia–Boston Celtics fans would likely give this change a good bit of thought.

It certainly does call for Brad Stevens and co. to part with a treasure trove of assets.

Here’s the arrangement, which also nets an extra big man in Dwight Howard and a potential sixth man scoring stick of dynamite in Jeremy Lamb:

"Lakers receive: Al Horford, Tobias Harris76ers receive: Dennis Schroder, T.J. Warren, Domantas Sabonis, Caris LeVertPacers receive: Russell Westbrook, DeAndre Jordan, Kent Bazemore, Romeo Langford, Jaden Springer, 76ers 2022 first-round pick, Celtics 2022 first-round pick, Celtics 2024 first-round pick, Celtics 2026 first-round pick, Lakers 2027 first-round pickCeltics receive: Ben Simmons, Dwight Howard, Jeremy Lamb"

The future would certainly be mortgaged here, with four future picks (although it should be pointed out their 2022 can’t be dealt given their 2021 pick was) being routed to Indiana, who is also absorbing a ton of bad contracts. Chief among them of course being Russell Westbrook’s.

Philadelphia comes away with a ton of depth in the deal, and may just come out on the winning side of it. The Los Angeles Lakers in can only possibly come out winning if Al Horford and Tobias Harris are the necessary supporting cast for the LeBron James-Anthony Davis pair to win another title. They’d have to make other moves before any judgement was cast.

As for the Celtics? Ben Simmons solves a lot of problems. Enough to give up that many picks? The jury is certainly out on that one since it’s only a mock trade.

Probably not, though.
