The Boston Celtics may have just punched in one of their most impressive wins of the entire 2021-22 season Saturday night, one that saw productive play throughout all four quarters and new career milestones being set, but they’re still far from being a team that should feel comfortable with how they’re currently assembled.

Despite the front office’s best efforts during the offseason, the C’s roster is oddly constructed and, because of this, fans and media alike are clamoring for Brad Stevens and co. to direct their sights towards the trade market in an effort to try and scoop up potentially available players that could help spark a much-needed mid-season turnaround.

Over the past several weeks we’ve seen plenty of ideas concocted that could wind up bolstering Boston’s talent pool in a multitude of areas and, recently, the folks at Bleacher Report proposed a deal that would bring the shamrocks a combination of solid two-way talent, a young prospect, and draft rights in exchange for two supposedly expendable role players.

The exact deal reads as follows:

Now, while the majority of attention from this piece by Dan Favale was focused on the impact that the move would have on the Utah Jazz, as a Boston Celtics site we can’t help but mainly think of how this exchange would affect the C’s and, well… we really like it.

Obviously, the main draw of this deal for the Celtics is seeing Joe Ingles make his way to Eastern Massachusetts and, while Favale was correct to point out how he’s seemingly regressed throughout this campaign when in comparison to years past, this has been whilst predominantly coming off the pine and, should he make his way to Boston, Ime Udoka should strongly consider slotting him into the starting five where, in this role, he has been rather impressive.

In eight total games serving in the first five for the Jazz, the guard finds himself posting solid averages of 11.6 points, four rebounds, and 3.3 assists on a stellar 51 percent shooting from the field and 49 percent shooting from deep on 6.4 attempts per game while also boasting a 57.1 effective field goal percentage in catch-and-shoot attempts on the year overall.

Having this type of two-way talent in the starting unit would help better space the floor while also giving lead guard, Marcus Smart, an efficient backcourt partner who can serve as an effective scorer when off-ball and a high-impact defensive presence (two attributes the team currently does not possess).

On top of this, the Boston Celtics also find themselves bringing on a second-round pick, the rights to a pick swap, and rookie guard Jared Butler who, throughout his three-year collegiate stint with Baylor, managed to establish himself as a quality long-range sniper, converting on 42 percent of his 3-point attempts during his final season while also seeing 16.7 points and 4.8 assists per game for the eventual NCAA Championship team whilst receiving the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player award along the way.

By all accounts, we view this proposed trade by Favale to be mutually beneficial and, in turn, should be seriously considered by the front office if it’s ever found on the table, for it brings a player who could absolutely help improve the starting rotation’s overall efficiency, a young prospect, and some draft incentives.

What more could the C’s want at this price range?
