2022 was dangerously close to beginning with a nuclear post-new year’s loss to the Orlando Magic for the Boston Celtics. Luckily, with Jaylen Brown leading the way with a 50-point performance–joining exclusive company as just the seventh Celtic to ever do so–calamity was merely a close-call and Boston picked up a much-needed victory to bring them to 18-19.
It took overtime to do it, and the Houdini’s under prediction was foiled as a result, but the Cs survived by the skin of their teeth…against an Orlando Magic team without Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs, this without mentioning that Jonathan Isaac and Markelle Fultz have been on the shelf all season.
Ime Udoka’s first season continues to look mundane at best as the Boston Celtics continue to hover around the bottom of the Eastern Conference postseason picture. While, sure, the job was done against Orlando, we feel that oddsmakers continue to overrate this team when it comes to releasing their betting lines.
Hardwood Houdini is here to dish out those aforementioned odds, where to catch the action, and a prediction ahead of Wednesday’s tilt with San Antonio at the TD Garden:
Boston Celtics vs. San Antonio Spurs odds, spread, over/under
According to WynnBet, the Celtics are 8-point favorites against the Spurs at home. San Antonio is a +260 underdog on the road, with the Cs moneyline set at -320. The over/under for the game has been placed at 223.5 points.
Celtics vs. Spurs TV channel
Bally Sports Southwest and NBC Sports Boston own the local television rights to this one. NBA League Pass is your best bet if you’re not in-market.
Celtics vs. Spurs prediction
Eight points seems too steep to favor Boston even if the Spurs are on a four-game losing streak. This has trap-game vibes, although maybe that’s more of the Houdini’s lack of trust in the Cs than anything else.
San Antonio may have tired legs from last night’s loss to the Toronto Raptors, so we’ll lean towards the under once again here.
