Team that could call the Boston Celtics No. 2) New York Knicks

For a while now, many have pegged the New York Knicks as a team that could look to make a run for Dennis Schroder at some point this season and, as we progress farther and farther into the year it seemingly becomes more plausible with every passing day.

Already having shown interest in him during this past summer’s free agency period, it was rather evident that New York’s decision-makers were high on the idea of bringing on more weapons to bolster their backcourt, and now, just over two months into the year they should still feel this way, for they have been plagued by injuries and inconsistent play from their guards.

Having established himself as being an effective scorer and a competent defender throughout his nine-year career in the association, Dennis Schroder could actually be an ideal fit at guard within a Tom Thibodeau-led scheme, as he historically thrives with quick and willing backcourt talents who can get out on fast breaks, buy a bucket just as willingly as they can dish it out, and who can put forth high-end effort on both ends of the ball.

Of course, the Knickerbockers would have to be willing to part with something of value should they wish to entice the Boston Celtics to deal away the 28-year-old, and, quite frankly, we feel they may be one of their most compatible trade partners, for Leon Rose and co. are flush with something that should be of great interest to the Cs — draft capital.

Owners of four first-round picks throughout the next two years, New York could very easily be willing to offload some of these assets should it give them a chance to get back to relevance this year, and a guy like Schroder could absolutely prove to be worth it for them.
