At this point in time, there should be no doubt from fans and media alike that the Boston Celtics need major shakeups if they wish to turn their sub-par campaign around before it becomes too late.

Frankly, we at HH have felt this way for quite a while now, and Monday night’s second-half collapse against the unbelievably short-handed Minnesota Timberwolves should be considered the final straw when it comes to arguing that this team as currently constructed should be held intact moving forward.

Gone are the days of defense statements starting off with “all this team needs is health”, for, with their continuously falling record that now stands at 16-18 through 34 games played, patience is no longer an option for the Cs.

Brad Stevens and co. need to step into action and focus the bulk of their attention on the trade market between now and February’s deadline and, today, we will be discussing 3 star trade targets that could ultimately help save the remainder of the season for the Boston Celtics:

Boston Celtics star trade target No. 1) CJ McCollum

While he may not technically be a star, as he’s never been voted into the big game nor has he been selected to an All-NBA team throughout his nine-year career, CJ McCollum has proven to be one for the Trail Blazers and we believe he could serve in a similar role with the Boston Celtics if acquired as well.

Now, we can’t take all the credit for seeing the guard linked here today, for, recently, the folks at Bleacher Report broached the subject by concocting a package that would land him in Eastern Massachusets and, quite frankly, the more we think about it the more we believe it to be a sound idea for the Cs to consider.

Prior to going down in early December with a collapsed lung, the 30-year-old was off to another impressive season in Portland, boasting averages of 20.6 points, 4.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 1.1 steals, and just shy of a block per game on 39 percent shooting from the floor.

Already proven as being a highly productive No. 2 alongside star, Damian Lillard, it’s because of this that we believe he could actually prove to be an absolutely lethal No. 3 alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown for, outside of them this team is severely lacking in do-it-yourself scorers and consistent off-ball shooters, particularly in the backcourt, and the Portland guard could bring exactly this and more to the franchise.

Now fully recovered and, in turn likely close to a return to on-court action, the Boston Celtics may wish to consider pursuing the likes of CJ McCollum to have serve as their long-desired tertiary option alongside the Jays.
